Friday, April 17th #Brevardedtech facilitated a Nature Meets Tech Training at Rotary Park in Suntree. The team pulled conservation-themed lessons from The Everglades Foundation's Everglades Literacy Program, Guy Harvey Foundation, and Project/Aquatic WILD from Brevard Zoo PD and added tech. Rather than taking the usual 1 hour lunch out to eat, the integrator team grilled and participants brought sides and desserts! The day ended with a trash cleanup around the pavilion. This was an amazing day of learning, collaborating and recharging for all!

We are exited to share this news from Mrs. Rice at Tropical Elementary School!
The METS Academy fifth graders participated in Tropical Elementary School Solar Race Event this past Wednesday. The conditions were perfect! It was exciting and there were many ups and downs as we used the Engineering Design Process to design, build, and modify our cars.
The winning team was represented by both Tropical and MILA students: S. Day, I. Walker, and A. Williams.
Many thanks to the Florida Solar Energy Center and BPS STEM Program for lending the inspiration, track, and supplies.

Yesterday, nine teams attended day 1 of our Destination Moon competition which is sponsored by The Boeing Company! Students competed in Minecraft Education by designing a basecamp on the Moon. They built and coded LEGO Education Spike Prime robots to complete tasks on a Moon map from the Aldrin Family Foundation. Space influencers from each team documented the team’s journey and submitted iMovie videos for judging. Finally, teams competed in the Moon Base Blitz, a top secret mission revealed only to the students during the event! We are so proud of all the hard work that students put into their projects! We loved the teamwork and great sportsmanship we saw! Way to go, future Moonwalkers!

Thank you, Driftwood Dyes , for designing our Destination Moon shirts! You are truly talented! #brevardedtech

Mr. Englert and his students have been very busy at Ralph Williams Elementary! VR and Sphero Robots… rocks with 4/5, animal classification with 3rd, clouds with 5th ancient China and ancient Egypt with 6th! We love all this creativity! #brevardedtech #brevardpublicschools

South Lake Elementary first graders created timelines of their lives as they learned this social studies skill! Students added pictures and recorded themselves using their iPads. Great work, Sharks! #BrevardEdTech #applelearningcoach #brevardpublicschools

#brevardedtech is amazed with the fantastic artwork from a South Lake Elementary first grade artist! This is all done on an iPad!

#brevardedtech had an amazing time at Ralph Williams Elementary’s STEM Night! Students made LED light up bookmarks in the STEM lab while others had fun with #Intelino smart trains. We love seeing the excitement that creating and coding builds!!

#brevardedtech had a fantastic time visiting all of the 1st grade students at Lockmar Elementary School - Palm Bay Florida on January 16th. Using Keynote on their iPads, students practiced adding a magic e to the end of short “a” words to see how the vowel sound changes. It was exciting to watch their faces light up as they transformed words and built their phonics skills through technology.
A big thank you to Mrs. Robinson, Mrs. Abraira, and Mrs. Johnson for welcoming us into your classrooms and sharing your amazing students with us today. #applelearningcoach

And we greatly appreciate Dionne, Shannon, and all the education staff at Delaware North Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex who partner with us and work to create a great experience for students! Thank you to everyone who came out for Sponsor Day yesterday! #brevardpublicschools

STEM camp students at Ralph Williams Elementary worked together in teams to design and build a soccer goal from maker space materials. They worked through the engineering design process when making their goals. Students then coded dash robots to go around four players or obstacles on the field, launched a ball into the goal and then returned to the starting point while going around three more obstacles. Tomorrow we will use green screen to video tape the process and make dash actually run on a soccer field.
